Wilfred Charles La Voie, husband of Anne (Chaikowsky) La Voie, formerly of Shenandoah, died August 26, in Los Angeles, California.
Born in Troy, NY on February 17, 1932, he was the son of the late Wilfred and Mildred Smith Faille LaVoie. During the Korean War, he served in the United States Navy, stationed aboard the USS Hornet.
After military service, he worked for IBM. Over the next 20 years he also pursued his interest in acting, performing at several theatres in NY including the Driftwood Showboat, The Coach House Players, Mid-Hudson Rep Company, as well as on the radio.
Wilfred then moved to Los Angeles where he was a member of Actor's Equity, SAG and AFTRA. His credits from the Catskills to California encompassed sound stages and store windows, theaters, tents and even a floating showboat. Los Angeles stage credits included premier performances of original work, as well as revivals of dramas, musicals and comedies from "Guys & Dolls" to "You Can't Take it With You". On television, he appeared in episodic series ("LA Law", "Who's the Boss", "General Hospital") as well as did voiceovers ("Magnum, P.I.", "Quantum Leap") and commercials (Mercedes Benz, Bank of America).
Wilfred is survived by his wife of 27 years, Anne; children David, Joseph, Mary La Voie and Kathleen; grandchildren Amanda, Justin, Caitlin, Sarah, Brandon, and two great-grandchildren, Thomas and Davin. Also surviving is his cousin Ray LaVoie. He was preceded in death by his younger brother, Don LaVoie.
Monsignor Francis Webber will officiate at the Funeral Mass to be held Friday 27th September at The Mission San Fernando Rey de España in Mission Hills, California.
