Walter J. Sklaris of Mahanoy City died Sunday at Schuylkill Medical Center East. Walter was born in Frackville, a son of the late Walter J. and Stella Laurinavage Sklaris.
He was graduated from the J. W. Cooper High School in Shenandoah in 1938 and received an Associate Degree from the McCann School of Business in stenographics.
Walter served in the Army Air Force during WWII
He lived most of his life in Mahanoy City and was a life member of the Benevolent and Protective order of Elks as well as a life member of the American Legion Mahanoy City.
He was also a member of the former "Monarch Associates" stock club.
Walter had been employed in sales and delivery by Swift and Company of Shenandoah and by Arbogast & Bastian Inc. of Allentown until he retired.
Walter is a member of Blessed Teresa of Calcutta RC parish in Mahanoy City.
In addition to his parents Walter was preceded in death by an infant brother Andrew. He is survived by his wife the former Josephine Sholtis, sons W. Steven Sklaris Ashburn VA, Ronald Sklaris Henderson NV and Donald Sklaris Henderson NV, and a daughter Carol wife of James Whalen Mahanoy City. Walter has a brother Edward Sklaris and his wife Mary of Frackville. There are 7 grandchildren and 3 great grandchildren also nieces nephews and a cousin June.
Friends may call Friday at 9 am at Blessed Teresa of Calcutta parish Mahanoy City, Mass of Christian burial is at 10 am and interment is in Sky View Memorial Park Hometown where a White Dove will be released in his memory.
