Vincent J. Langavich, 95, formerly of 1027 E. Pine St., Mahanoy City,
died Tuesday morning at the home of his daughter, Loretta, and her
husband, Douglas Fristick, Breinigsville.
Born in Mahanoy City, Oct. 5, 1913, he was a son of the late Alexander and Margaret Norkus Langavich.
He lived in Mahanoy City most of his life and was a 1930 graduate of Mahanoy City High School.
Vincent was self-employed as a barber for 53 years and retired in 1987.
He was a veteran of the Army and served during World War II in the European Campaign.
He
was a member of Blessed Teresa of Calcutta Roman Catholic Church,
Mahanoy City, a member of the American Legion Post 74, Mahanoy City,
and had also been active in the former St. Joseph Church Choir.
He was preceded in death by his wife, Matilda Tillie, in 2001.
He is survived by three grandchildren; five great-grandchildren; and nieces and nephews.
A
funeral will be held at 9:30 a.m. Saturday at Louis D. Truskowsky
Funeral Home. Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 10 a.m. at
Blessed Teresa of Calcutta Church, Mahanoy City. Friends may call from
6 to 8 p.m. Friday at the funeral home. Interment will be held in St.
Joseph Cemetery, Mahanoy City, where a white dove will be released at
the graveside in his memory.
