Obituary
Susan I. Urban, 65, of Cresswell Gardens, died peacefully Thursday morning at her home.
Born in Chelsea, Mass., she was a daughter of the late Gerald and Virginia Latshaw Smeigh. Susan was a graduate of Great Valley High School, Malvern, and Lankenau School of Nursing, Wynnewood.
She was a registered nurse in the operating room at the former Good Samaritan Hospital, Pottsville.
Susan actively attended the Trinity E.C. Church, Frackville. She was an active volunteer for the American Red Cross blood mobiles, American Cancer Society, American Heart Association and selflessly volunteered her time to those needing transportation for medical needs.
She was a former school board member of North Schuylkill School District, a former member of Community Banks board of directors, and a member of the former Mahanoy City Chapter of Zi Zeta Phi women's sorority.
Susan moved to Schuylkill County when she married her husband, Attorney Anthony Joseph Urban, in 1967.
She has three sons, Anthony James Urban Esq., Fountain Springs, Brian Joseph Urban Esq., Cresswell Gardens, and Christopher Jonathan Urban Esq., Philadelphia; a daughter, Kathryn Suzanne Urban, OTR/L, St. Augustine, Fla. Susan has two grandchildren, Wesley Pierce and Adelaide Mae.
A memorial service will be held at 6:30 p.m. Tuesday at Trinity E.C. Church, 56 N. Balliet St., Frackville, with the Rev. George D. Drupp officiating. Friends may visit with the Urban family from 4 to 6 p.m. Tuesday at the church.
