Stephen L. Hercek, 94, of Mahanoy City, passed away July 23 at Geisinger Medical Center, Danville.
Born in Lorrain, Ohio, Dec. 25, 1915, he was a son of the late Louis and Veronica Siska Hercek. He lived most of his life in Mahanoy City.
He was a member of St. Richard Church, Barnesville.
Stephen was retired from Bethlehem Steel Mining Co., Tamaqua, and worked as a miner at other various locations all his life.
He is survived by his wife, Margaret "Peggy" Smellousky Hercek.
He was the last member of his immediate family.
Surviving are a grandson, Richard Weber, and a granddaughter, Colleen Weber; a niece and nephew.
Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 10 a.m. Tuesday at St. Richard Church, Barnesvillle, with the Rev. Whalen officiating. Viewing will be 6 to 8 p.m. Monday and from 8:30 a.m. Tuesday at Louis D. Truskowsky Funeral Home Inc., Mahanoy City. Interment will be in Sky-View Memorial Park, Hometown.
