Russell N. Hiney, 83, of Ashland, formerly of Mahanoy City, passed away Tuesday, May 18th, at Lehigh Valley Cedar Crest, Allentown.

Russell was born in Mahanoy City, PA on March 15, 1938, a son of the late Mary (Greiner) and Nathaniel Hiney.

Russell graduated from Mahanoy City High School Class of 1956, and served in the U.S. Navy until 1958. Upon returning home he started his own contracting business with his father.  He was always well known for being a brilliant carpenter.

He belonged to St. Paul's UCC Church in Mahanoy City.

He was the husband of Sonia (Hadamaka) Hiney for 60 wonderful years.

Russell is also survived by two daughters, Lisa Taylor of Ft. Myers FL; Karen Pinchot of Frackville; a brother, James Hiney of Fresno Ca.; son-in-law, John Pinchot of Ashland; two granddaughters, Adrienne Pinchot and significant other Tyler Shustack of Frackville; Noelle Pinchot of Nashville, TN; and great grandson Landyn Shustack, with another great grandson on the way.

He was preceded in death by a sister, Dorothy (Hiney) Mongeau, in 1985.

A Funeral will be held at Louis D. Truskowsky Funeral Home & Crematory Inc., at 11 am on Wednesday, May 26th.Friends and family may call Wednesday 9 to 11 am at the funeral home.
Interment will follow at Skyview Memorial Park Tamaqua, PA.
