Rachel Colleen Langan, 16, of Mahanoy City, died unexpectedly Thursday morning (2009) at home.

Born in Phoenixville, July 23, 1992, she was a daughter of Raymond M. Langan Jr. and his wife, Mercedes, Reading, and her mother Terri (known as Lynn to her friends) Thomas Murphy with whom she lived and her husband, Charles Murphy, Mahanoy City.

She was a sophomore at Mahanoy Area High School, where she was active in Students Against Drunk Driving and music.

Rachel enjoyed taking photos of family and friends, walking on the beach and boardwalk, as well as fishing, text messaging and "My Space."She was preceded in death by a brother, Raymond Curtis Langan. Surviving, in addition to her parents, are her grandparents, Terry and his wife Vonnie Thomas, Blandon, Raymond Sr. and his wife Doris Langan, Saratoga PA, and Step grand parents Richard Murphy and his wife, Erline, Mahanoy City; a brother, Charlie Murphy, at home; a sister, Shannon Langan, at home, Step brothers William Edward Dimalanta, Sinking Springs, Eric Dimalanta Taftville CT, Elieso Roman, Reading, and Alex Zambrama Reading; aunts, uncles and cousins.

A white dove was released in her memory on February 14th. The family prefers donations to the Rachel Langan Memorial Fund, which will be accepted at the funeral home or can be sent to Susquehanna Bank, 2001 Museum Road,
