Michael Kohan, 85, of Mahanoy City, passed away Wednesday at Shenandoah Manor Nursing Home, Shenandoah.
Born in Mahanoy City, July 24, 1925, he was a son of the late Michael and Mary Semanchick Kohan, and Joseph Wilinsky.
He was a member of St. Mary Byzantine Catholic Church, Mahanoy City.
A Mahanoy City High School graduate, he served in the Marines in World War II in Okinawa and the South Pacific, having later retired from American General Life Insurance.
He was a member of American Legion Post 74, was past president of Mahanoy City Little League and served as coach for 25 years.
He was the husband of Mary Petrousky Kohan, who survives.
He was preceded in death by a brother, Thomas Wilinsky.
In addition to his wife, he is survived by three sons, Michael and his wife, Debbie, Shenandoah Heights, Marlon and his wife, Patrice, Palmerton, and Mark and his wife, Pam, Downingtown; two sisters, Pearl Scheeler, Mahanoy City, and Patricia Wilinsky Bennett, Springboro, Ohio; 12 grandchildren; five great-grandchildren.
Office of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 11 a.m. Saturday at St. Mary Byzantine Catholic Church, Mahanoy City, with the Rev. James Carroll officiating. Interment will be in St. Casimir Cemetery, Mahanoy City.
There will be no calling hours for Mr Kohan.
