Metro Datchko Jr. 91, of Delano passed away Thursday January 8 at his home. He was a life long resident of Delano, a son of the late Metro and Anastasia Maschak Datchko.
Metro attended Delano schools and enlisted in the US Coast Guard where he served during WWII.
He was a member of the Faith United Church of Christ Delano.
He was a miner, a railroader, the proprietor of the former Datchko's bar, a milkman and he had worked in construction. He served in the Civilian Conservation Corps. He was a member of the American Legion Post 973 Quakake, Bear's Head Sportsman's Club Delano, life member of the Mahanoy City Elks Post 695, a life member of the Delano Fire Company and a member of the DAV.
In addition to his parents Metro was preceded in death by his wife Lois 2007, a son Metro III 1986 and a son Michael 1980, by three brothers, Michael, Joseph and Daniel, by sisters Rose Landman and Mary Kline. A grandson Andrew Gruber also preceded him.
Metro is survived by Daughters Marie wife of Norman Cunningham Delano, Susan wife of Clarence Gruber Allentown, and Cathy wife of William Whitfield Delano, a sister Anna Berger Princeton VA, five grandchildren and seven great-grandchildren.
Funeral services are pending.
Interment will be in the White Church Cemetery where a White Dove will be released in his memory.
