Mary P. Thompson, 95, of Topton, formerly of West Spruce Street,
Mahanoy City, died Sunday morning in the Inpatient Hospice Unit of
Lehigh Valley Hospital, Allentown.
Born in Mahanoy City, Dec.
25, 1913, she was a daughter of the late Frank Pilipavich and Anna
Truskowski Burza Pilipavich Puidokas. She was educated in Mahanoy City
public schools and lived in Mahanoy City most of her life.
She was employed in the local garment industry.
She
was a member of St. Paul United Church of Christ, Mahanoy City, St.
Paul's Dorcas class and Citizens Fire Company Ladies Auxiliary. Mary
enjoyed cooking and homemaking.
She was preceded in death by her
husband, William J. Thompson, and five brothers, Anthony, John and
Joseph Burza and Stanley and Walter Phillips.
Surviving are two
sons, Robert P. Thompson and his wife, Dorothy, Minersville, and
Richard C. Thompson and his wife, Hellene, Emmaus. Richard and Hellene
provided Mary with loving care, guidance and friendship. She is also
survived by a sister, Anna Puidokas Zegley, Mahanoy City; a special
niece, Jean Burza Hubosky; a special sister-in-law, Phyllis Gelley;
five grandchildren; six great-grandchildren; nieces and nephews.
Funeral
will be held at 11 a.m. Wednesday from Louis D. Truskowsky Funeral Home
Inc., Mahanoy City. Interment will be in German Protestant Cemetery,
Mahanoy City, where a white dove will be released at the graveside in
her memory. Friends may call from 6 to 8 p.m. Tuesday and from 10 a.m.
Wednesday at the funeral home. Her family prefers memorial donations to
St. Paul United Church of Christ, which may be made at the funeral home.
