Mary Novak of Mahanoy City died Sunday afternoon at the Ridge View Home in Shenandoah. She was born in Shenandoah, a daughter of the late Frank and Barbara Jubin, Kulpowicz.
Mary was a graduate of the J. W. Cooper High School and during WWII she worked for the Budd Corp where she welded manifolds for P 38, B12 and B 24 bombers. Her family and friends were proud of their "Rosie the Riveter " and her war effort.
She lived in Mahanoy City since 1945 and had worked for the Calnon laundry, White Owl cigar factory for 17 years and last worked for City Shirt.
Mary was a member of Blessed Teresa Of Calcutta Parish Mahanoy City and the parish Sodality. She was known as a church "Bundukie" maker.
In addition to her parents she preceded in death by her husband Charles "Chick" Novak in 1963, a brother Anthony Kulpowicz and sisters Wanda Webb and Helen Bowser. Nieces and nephews survive.
Friends may call at Blessed Teresa of Calcutta from 10am Thursday October 23. Mass of Christian Burial will be at 11am.
Interment will be in St. Casimir Cemetery Shenandoah
Family prefers memorial donations to Blessed Teresa Parish.
