Mary Ellen Lewis, age 73, of Frackville, PA, passed away on Monday, November 11th, 2024, at Lehigh Valley Cedar Crest in Allentown. Born in Mahanoy City, PA, on September 14, 1951, she was the daughter of the late Margaret (Weber) and Florian Swokel.

Mary Ellen was a devoted member of Saint Teresa of Calcutta Parish in Mahanoy City, PA. She graduated from Mahanoy Area High School in 1969 and went on to complete her nursing education at the Pottsville School of Nursing in 1972. She dedicated her career to nursing, a profession she was passionate about.

Mary Ellen was the beloved wife of Dr. Ivor Lewis. She is survived by her son, Jared, and his wife Angela Sluzalis, of Boonsboro, MD, as well as her cherished grandchildren, Paige and Noah. She was predeceased by her brother, James.

Mary Ellen had a love for animals and enjoyed her seats next to the dugout for Phillies Baseball. She was a fan of the Eagles band and, in her younger days, was a groupie for the Jordan Brothers.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at Saint Teresa of Calcutta Parish in Mahanoy City, PA, at 10 AM on Saturday, November 16th, with Rev. Kevin P. Gallagher officiating. Visitation will be held on Friday from 6 to 8 PM and on Saturday at 9 AM at Louis D. Truskowsky Funeral Home & Crematory Inc. Interment will follow at St. Canicus Cemetery in Mahanoy City, PA.
