Mrs. Mary A. Kurncavage, 93, of Mount Carmel, passed away Tuesday, February 28th, at Schuylkill Medical Center South Jackson, Pottsville.
Formerly of Mahanoy City, Mrs. Kurncavage was born in Cleveland, Ohio on September 8, 1918, the daughter of the late George and Anna (Eskut) Wilner.
She was a member of Blessed Teresa of Calcutta Parish Mahanoy City, PA.
Mary worked at Janowitz Shirt Factory, & City Shirt Factory Mahanoy City.
She had belonged to the West End Fire & Rescue Ladies Auxiliary Mahanoy City, and loved to travel, sew and crochet and do her puzzles. She loved to walk Mahanoy City and also go to Bob's Deli in Mount Carmel to socialize with her friends.
Mary had attended Mahanoy City Schools.
She was preceded in death by her husband Peter Kurncavage who passed away in 1977. In addition to her husband, she was preceded in death by her daughter Helen Siebert in 2003, her brothers Andy, Steven, George, and John and sisters Ann Siebert, and Helen Anderson.
Surviving is a daughter Patricia Berrigan, Mount Carmel, a sister Sophie Donella, Mahanoy City, and grand children Jeffrey Berrigan and his wife Amy, Suzanne Berrigan-Fatra and her husband Jaswinder, Kathleen Berrigan-Fracalossi, and her husband William, and Christine Berrigan-Docherty, and her husband Richard Jr.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at Blessed Teresa of Calcutta Parish, Mahanoy City, PA, at 10 am on Saturday, March 3rd, with Father Kevin Gallagher officiating. Friends may call Saturday 9am - 10 am at Blessed Teresa of Calcutta Parish.
Interment will follow in Assumption BVM Cemetery Mahanoy City, where a White Dove will be released in her memory.
