Margaret Yackabonis, 93, of 934 E. Centre St., Mahanoy City, died Tuesday morning at Geisinger Medical Center, Danville.
Born in Shenandoah, she was the daughter of the late Charles and Catherine Gustitus Noraka.
Margaret lived most of her life in Mahanoy City, where she was a proprietor of the former N&Y Food Market.
She was a member of the Blessed Teresa of Calcutta Parish, Mahanoy City.
Margaret
had been a member of the former St. Joseph Parish Rosary Society and
was devoted to the Chapel of Perpetual Adoration there.
She was
preceded in death by her husband, William, in 1989; two brothers,
William and Charles Noraka; and one sister, Helen Czepukaitis.
Surviving
are a son, William Yackabonis, Slatington; a daughter, Maryellen
Kupchinsky, Kingsport, Tenn.; a sister, Mary Petusky, Philadelphia;
four grandchildren; two great-grandchildren; nieces and nephews.
Funeral services will be held at 9:30 a.m. Saturday at Louis D. Truskowsky Funeral Home.
Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 10 a.m. at the Blessed Teresa Parish.
Interment will be in Our Lady of Dawn, Shenandoah, where a
white dove
will be released by the grave side in her memory.
Friends may call from 8 a.m. Saturday until the time of services at the funeral home.
The family prefers memorial donations be made to the Chapel of Perpetual Adoration, which may be made at the funeral home.
