IN LOVING MEMORY OF
Margaret "Peggy"
Tertel
January 4, 1950 – October 2, 2024
Margaret "Peggy" Tertel, 74, of Park Place, PA, passed away Wednesday, October 2nd, at St Luke's Hospital, Coaldale.
Margaret was born in Park Place, PA on January 4, 1950, a daughter of the late Ethel (Miller) and Thomas McNiff.
She graduated from Mahanoy Area High School and then attained a Master's Degree at Liberty University.
If you knew Peggy, you knew she couldn't go anywhere without a Coca-Cola in a pair of high heels and a Misty Menthol 120. She was loved by her Pomeranian puppy, Bunker. He never left her side since the day he met her.
She loved to decorate. She could take an old rusty pot and turn it into something beautiful. Her love for nature and wild animals was remarkable. It was never a surprise to see a herd of deer in her yard as you pass by.
Peggy had a love for holidays. If you grew up around Park Place, you spent an October night at one of her famous Halloween Parties. She was always coming up with ways to scare her many grandchildren and great grandchildren to get a laugh! Her faith was strong. On Christmas, she always had a cake to sing "Happy Birthday" to Jesus! She read her Bible daily.
She always talked about "the day" and reminded us often how she was not afraid and how when she passes to have a huge party and celebrate her life.
Peggy loved helping people and worked as a therapist for 28 years. She was currently employed at New Beginnings in Mahanoy City.
She was the wife of the late John C Tertel.
Margaret is survived by three daughters, Tamara, wife of Arthur Hersberger, of Eagle Rock; Patricia, wife of Norm Cunningham, of Park Place; Terry Tertel, of Park Place; a sister, Jane Simco, of Lewisberry.
She is also survived by 11 Grandchildren and 25 Great Grandchildren, nieces and nephews, and a sister in law Carol Jadosh and her husband John of Middletown.
She is preceded in death by a brother Michael McNiff, and sisters Susan Yedsena, and Patricia Vanhorn, and 2 grandchildren Tyler Smith, and Jordan Ogrodnick, and one 1 great grandchild Randy Hughes.
Friends and family may call Sunday 6 to 8 pm at Louis D. Truskowsky Funeral Home & Crematory Inc.
Interment private at convenience of the Family National Cemetery Fort Indiantown Gap Annville, PA.
