Manuel (Manny) Fernandez, 67, of Mahanoy City, PA, passed away Tuesday, October 21st, peacefully surrounded by family at his residence. .

Manuel was born in Grier City, PA on March 18, 1947, a son of the late Christina (Franc) and Jesus Fernandez.

He was a member of Blessed Teresa of Calcutta Parish Mahanoy City, PA 17948.

Manny served in the U.S. Army as a Specialist in the Vietnam War.

He worked as a Letter Carrier at the US Post Office in Pottsville.

Manny belonged to the Mahanoy City Elks, American Legion, Amvets and the St Clair Fish and Game Club. He was also the Coach of the Mahanoy Area Midget Cheerleaders, Mahanoy City Little League coach for the Rotary Team, Midget football, and the Mahanoy City Elks Teener League.

He was one of the biggest fans of the Dallas Cowboys.

He had earned the Vietnam Service Medal with 2 Bronze Service Stars, the National Defense Service Medal, Republic of Vietnam Campaign Medal, the Army Commendation Medal, Air Medal, Combat Infantryman Badge, and 2 Purple Hearts.

He had graduated Mahanoy Area High School Class of 1965.

He was the husband of Carol (Moucheron) Fernandez.

Manuel is survived by a daughter, Gina, wife of Ryan Morgan, of Mahanoy City;
a son, Christian, husband of Tarkita Fernandez, of Mahanoy City;

Manuel is also survived by a sister, Madeline Davidock, of Surf Side Beach SC.
a brother, James Fernandez, of Harrisburg, and by 5 Grandchildren, Brianna, Antonio, Maddie, Dee, and Jazzy. Nieces and Nephews.

He is preceded in death by brothers Joseph and Michael.

A service will be held at the convenience of the family
