Lorraine H. Sweeney, 76, our loving mother, passed away on Friday at home in the arms of her family.
Born in Brooklyn, New York, Lorraine and our late father, Jim, retired to Shenandoah in 1985. Lorraine worked for Shenandoah Manor and Davidson's Furniture. She was an impassioned member of The Shenandoah Historical Society. Over the years, Lorraine and Jim adopted three dogs from Hillside SPCA who enriched their lives and became members of our family. Hillside SPCA held a special place in her heart.

Our mother had a long battle with cancer. We would like to take this moment to thank all her helped her and us with deeds, words, and prayers. My sister and I would be remiss if we didn't especially mention my husband, Roy Finocchio, her son-in-law, whom she would say, went above and beyond with his care and compassion for her.

She was preceded in death by the love of her life, her husband of 54 years, James P. Sweeney, on July 28, 2008.

Surviving are a daughter, Lauren Kleinberg, Shenandoah; Jamey and husband Roy Finocchio, Frackville; her sister and brother-in-law Lois and Richard Zenk; their children and spouses; loving cousins; and their dearest friends, Alice and John Beale of Brooklyn, New York.

Service will be celebrated at 10 a.m. Thursday, at First United Methodist Church, Frackville, with Pastor Sue Ketterer officiating. Friends may call between 9 a.m. and 10 a.m. at the church. Interment will follow in Annunciation Cemetery, Shenandoah Heights. Louis D. Truskowsky Funeral Home & Crematory Inc. is in charge.
