Kathryn Rose Hancock, 79, a former resident of Virginia Avenue,
Shenandoah Heights, and for the last seven years a resident of 10 W.
Centre St., Mahanoy City, died Sunday morning at Holy Spirit Hospital,
Camp Hill.
Born in Mahanoy Plane, Nov. 23, 1928, she was a
daughter of the late D'Metro and Catherine Brud Flysta. She lived most
her life in Shenandoah.
She was educated in Gilberton schools.
She
was employed for many years in the dietary and laundry departments at
Rest Haven nursing home, Schuylkill Haven, from which she retired.
She was a member of St. George Roman Catholic Church, Shenandoah.
She was a member of Greater Shenandoah Area Senior Citizens, Rambler's Club, Saint Clair, and Rest Haven Retirees Association.
Kathryn loved bingo, the Phillies and spending time with her grandchildren.
She
was preceded in death by her husband, Albert S. Kane Kanousky, in 1987;
a daughter, Theresa Kane Kanousky, in 1968; a brother, Metro Flysta;
two sisters, Mary Petronko and Anna Powanda.
Surviving are a
son, Albert Kane Kanousky, Shenandoah; a daughter, Kathryn and her
husband, James O'Connell, Carlisle, and her father, William C. Hancock,
Lost Creek; three grandchildren, Devann Rose, Bryce Patrick and Shane
Michael O'Connell; nieces and nephews.
Funeral services will be held at 10 a.m. Thursday from Louis D.
Truskowsky Funeral Home, 318 Center St., Shenandoah. Mass of Christian
Burial will be celebrated at 10:30 a.m. Thursday at Annunciation BVM
Church, Shenandoah. Interment will be in Our Lady of Fatima Cemetery,
Shenandoah, where a white dove will be released at the graveside in her
memory. Friends may call from 6 to 8 p.m. Wednesday at the funeral home.
