Julia R. Zoba, 96 of Mahanoy City died Saturday morning at Manor Care in Pottsville. She was born in Mahanoy City, the daughter of the late Joseph Sweet and Anna Zavaski Sweet. Julia was a 1933 graduate of the Bloomsburg High School.
Julia lived most of her life in Mahanoy City, had been self employed as a hair dresser and served as president of the Mahanoy City Hair Dressers Association for over 34 years.
She was a member of St. Mary Byzantine Catholic Church Mahanoy City.
In addition to her parents she was preceded in death by her husband Alphonsus in 1976 and by an infant son Thomas and by Brothers Andrew (Buddo) Sweet, Michael Sweet, John Sweet and Joseph Sweet, and Sisters Mary Starkey, Anna Homa, Jennie Michalonis.
She is survived by a daughter Nancy Warhold of Barnegat NJ, 4 grandchildren and 11 great-grandchildren also nieces and nephews.
Funeral will be Thursday at St. Mary Byzantine Catholic Church. Friends may call at the church from 10 am until Divine Liturgy at 11 am.
Interment will be in St. Joseph Cemetery Mahanoy City where a White Dove will be released in her memory.
Her family requests memorials to the church.
