Josephine P. Peel Hylan, 82, of West Centre Street, Mahanoy City,
passed away peacefully Sunday at Schuylkill Medical Center-East
Norwegian Street.Born in Mahanoy City, Dec. 26, 1925, she was a
daughter of the late Michael and Mary Kurtz Peel. She lived in Mahanoy
City her entire life.While most people dream of traveling the
world, Josie's love of home, cooking, baking and sharing her recipes
with others was her passion.Having no children of her own, her
door was always open to anyone who had a problem and needed help, which
she was always eager to give.She worked in the local garment
industry, including the former Janowich Dress Factory and City Shirt
Factory, formerly of Mahanoy City.She was a member of Blessed Teresa of Calcutta Parish, Mahanoy City.In
addition to her parents, Josephine was preceded in death by her
husband, Joseph, on Nov. 11, 2006; brothers Joseph, Michael, Elmer and
John "Jack" Peel; sisters, Florence Zaborsky and Mary "Sis" Maceiunas,
all formerly of Mahanoy City. Coincidently, Mary passed away on this
date 53 years ago.Survivors include a brother, George Peel,
Mahanoy City; and two sisters, Rose Luke, Harleysville, and Margaret
Bernadyn, Mahanoy City; nieces and nephews, including John L.
Maceiunas, husband of Renee, Weatherly, who she raised from childhood.Funeral
services will be held 9:30 a.m. Wednesday from Louis D. Truskowsky
Funeral Home Inc., Mahanoy City. Mass of Christian Burial will be
celebrated at 10 a.m. Wednesday at Blessed Teresa of Calcutta Church,
Mahanoy City. Friends may call from 6 to 8 p.m. Tuesday at the funeral
home. Interment will be in Sky-View Memorial Park, Hometown, where a
white dove will be released at the graveside in her memory.
