John (Jack) Sincavage, 69, of Mahanoy City, PA, passed away Thursday, October 9th, at his residence.
John was born in Mahanoy City, PA on November 22, 1944, a son of the late Albina (Yakimovage) and John Sincavage.
Graduated Mahanoy Area High School Class of 1962, and was a member of the Mahanoy Alumni Association.
He was a Veteran of the US Air Force during the Vietnam War Era, and served with the Military Air Transport Service, 1605th Air Base Wing, Azore Islands from 1962 to 1964. He served with the Strategic Air Command, 95th Combat Defense Squadron, 1964-1966. John had attained the rank of Sergeant.
John was a graduate of the Pennsylvania State Police Academy in Hershey, and was assigned to duty in Troop "J" in Lancaster, at the Exton Barracks. He was then transferred to Troop "S" in Milesburg and served at the Milton and Hazleton Barracks prior to retirement in 1985 with over 20 years of service. He last worked as a deliveryman for Mahanoy City Auto Parts.
He was a past 1st commander and past Adjutant of the American Legion Post #74, Mahanoy City, and was a social member of the V.F.W. Post #1420, Mahanoy City. John was also member of the United Veterans Parade Committee and member of the former Tank Committee. Member also of the Korean War Commemorative Committee and was responsible for numerous Schuylkill County Korean War Veterans to help apply for and receive their Korean War Service Medals.
John was a life member and past president of the Park Crest Fish & Game Club, Brandonville, and was chairman or co-chairman of the annual Kid's Fishing Rodeo for over 25 years. Among all these things he also loved going to the Casino.
John is survived by his companion and former wife Theresa Sincavage, two daughters, Kathy Sincavage, of Mahanoy City; Tracy, wife of Ken Weaver, of Coaldale; a son, John, husband of Robyn, of Mahanoy City;
John is also survived by a sister, Joan Shimkus, of Mahanoy City, and grandchildren John Tyler Sincavage, Bradley Hornung, Chase Weaver, and Lila Rose Sincavage. He was a loving grandfather and his grand children were the joys of his life.
Preceded in death by a sister Rita Stack.
A viewing will be held Monday October 13, 6-8 PM at the Louis D. Truskowsky Funeral Home & Crematory Inc. Mahanoy City with Reverend Father Bill Linchorst officiating a service at 7pm. Interment will be private at Sky View Memorial Park.
Family prefers donation to the Mahanoy City Public Library, and can be made at the funeral home.
