John J. Sheeler 66, of Mahanoy City died Thursday morning at the Schuylkill Medical Center South. Born in Grier City, and raised in Turkey Run, Shenandoah, he was preceded in death by his parents, John B. Sheeler and the former Anna Verbitsky. John was a proud graduate of the former Shenandoah Catholic High School class of '63 and a member of Blessed Teresa of Calcutta parish Mahanoy City. He lived most of his life in Mahanoy City and retired from Bethlehem Steel and was a member of the United Steel Workers Union of America.



Surviving his wife, the former Janet Senavites and four loving daughters, Jayne Kovich and her husband David, Pottsville, Amy Beth Sheeler and companion John Lipiec, Shenandoah, Kimberly Denchy and her husband Neil Mahanoy City and Stacey Shappell and her husband Justin, Schuylkill Haven. John has a sister Mary Ann Sheeler Mahanoy City.

There are six grandchildren: Joshua and Allyssa Kovich, Madison and Morgan Denchy, and Ava and Brayden Shappell, also nieces nephews and cousins.



Friends may call Monday at Blessed Teresa of Calcutta from 10 am until Mass of Christian Burial at 11 am. Interment will be in the German Protestant Cemetery Mahanoy City where a White Dove will be released in his memory.
