Obituary
John Polityka, 66, of Sunbury, formerly of Mahanoy City, died Friday morning at home.
He was born in Brooklyn, N.Y., a son of the late Thomas Polityka and Angela (nee Puk) Polityka Pukavage. ?
John was a graduate of the former St. Casimir parochial school in Mahanoy City and a 1962 graduate of Mahanoy Area High School. He worked on Wall Street for 30 years and in Mahanoy City.
He was a Navy veteran of the Vietnam War, a member of the American Legion and life member of the VFW.
A member of Blessed Teresa Of Calcutta Parish, Mahanoy City, he had also attended St. Monica Church in Sunbury.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by a brother, Larry Polityka.
Surviving are his wife, Diane (nee Houser) Watson Polityka, and her daughter, Rhonda Wynn, Sunbury; nieces and nephews.
Friends may call from 6 to 8 p.m. Monday at Louis D. Truskowsky Funeral Home, Mahanoy City. The funeral will be held at 10:30 a.m. Tuesday at the funeral home, followed by Mass of Christian Burial at 11 a.m. at Blessed Teresa of Calcutta Church. Interment will be in St. Casimir Cemetery, Mahanoy City, where a white dove will be released in his memory.
