Obituary
John D. Pereira, age 83 of Barnesville died Thursday evening at the Lehigh Valley Hospital Cedar Crest in Allentown. John was born in Middleport a son of Daniel and the former Zulmira Calvalheiro Pereira. He lived most of his life in Park Crest Barnesville and was a graduate of the Mahanoy City High School class of 1948.
John was a former co-owner of SkyTop Coal Company and a former co-owner of the Park Crest Oil Company. He had served in the US Army as an MP during the Korean war and was a member of the American Legion Post 74 Mahanoy City. He had been a member of St. Richard RC church Barnesville.
In addition to his parents John was preceded in death by a grand-son Matthew McCall.
John is survived by his wife the former Tish Kalvin, two daughters Marlene Pereira Ciszek, Lake Hauto PA and Linda Pereira Kosciolek South Lake Tahoe CA, a sister Mary Brobst Newholland Pa and by three grand-children Meredith McCall, Teddy Kosciolek and Kasmer Kosciolek. Neices and nephews also survive.
Services will be at the convenience of his family. Louis D. Truskowsky Funeral Home and Crematory, Mahanoy City is in charge.
