Mr. John Mahalage, 86, of Mahanoy City. passed away Tuesday, January 10th, at Schuylkill Medical Center East Norwegian, Pottsville, PA.
Mr. Mahalage was born in Mahanoy City, PA on May 5, 1925, the son of the late Peter and Helen (Savitsky) Mahalage.
He was of the catholic faith
He served in the U.S. Coast Guard as a Seaman First Class in WW II.
He was a Coal Miner working in local mines.
He had belonged to the Mahanoy City VFW, the Mahanoy City American Legion, and Mahanoy City Elks. John had loved to ride horses in his earlier years.
Graduated from Mahanoy Township High School.
He was the husband of Bernadine (Maceiunas) Mahalage.
He is survived by daughter Paula Hopkins of Mechanicsburg, and sister Julia Griggs of Mahanoy City. Survived also by 2 grandchildren, Devon, wife of David Parker, and Nichole Mahalage. Also a great grandson Gavin Parker, and one Niece.
He is preceded in death by a son John Jr. in2004.
Interment will be at the convenience of the family in Skyview Memorial Park Tamaqua, PA.
