John J. Dziedziak Sr., 77, of 360 S. West St., Shenandoah, passed away Monday at Penn State Milton S. Hershey Medical Center.
Born in Shenandoah, Aug. 12, 1931, he was a son of the late John and Victoria Kazmierczak Dziedziak.
He served in the Army as a Corporal in the Korean War and was awarded the Purple Heart, Korean Service Medal, Presidential Unit Citation, Army of Occupation Medal (Japan) and Combat Infantry Badge.
He worked for a short time at Mike and Nester Bake Shop, Shenandoah, and performed odd jobs for friends.
He was a member of Polish National Church, Shenandoah, American Legion, Disabled American Veterans and VFW, all of Shenandoah.
He was preceded in death by brothers, Thomas, Joseph, Frank, Zigmund and Walter; and sisters, Sophie Emala, Constance Priga, Clara Petritisch, Anna Dziedziak, Florence Daniels, Theresa Dziedziak, Mary Peikos and Margaret Dziedziak.
Surviving are his wife, Mildred Androsavich Dziedziak; daughters, Cheryl Bohler, Susan Oswald and Jennifer Dziedziak, all of Shenandoah; sons, John Dziedziak Jr., Shenandoah, and Stephen Dziedziak; sisters, Lottie Wysocki, Reading, and Rose Pongrazzi, Manville, N.J.; three grandchildren, Stephen, Tori and Joey.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 10 a.m. Friday at Polish National Church, Shenandoah, with the Rev. Robert Plichta officiating. Friends may call from 6 to 8 p.m. Thursday and from 9 a.m. Friday at Louis D. Truskowsky Funeral Home Inc., Shenandoah. Interment will be in Polish National Church Cemetery, Shenandoah, where a white dove will be released in his memory. The family prefers donations be made to Polish National Church, Shenandoah.
