Obituary

John Robert Brock, 59, passed away on August 6, 2015 in Pottsville,
Pennsylvania, the victim of a homicide.

John was best known in the Pottsville area as the owner of Pottsville Bike
and Board, a bicycle shop he operated from 2012 to 2014. He was often
spotted riding around town on his vintage 1937 Packard bicycle. John is
remembered for his generosity and willingness to help the less fortunate
members of the community. He donated bicycles to needy children and
taught numerous youngsters how to ride their bikes.

Mr. Brock's creative talents were sometimes expressed in his decorated
storefront windows, giving Pottsville residents a glimpse of his fun and
quirky personality. Those who knew John well appreciated his quick wit and
wry sense of humor.

John's most rewarding creative endeavor was his work on the television
series "Junkyard Wars" where he served as a technical advisor and set
designer. In addition to his contributions to the entertainment industry, Mr.
Brock worked as a maintenance supervisor for various trucking and
automotive firms, including Waste Management, Inc. in Pittsburg and the
Ride-the-Ducks boat tour company in Philadelphia.

Born in Meadville, Pennsylvania on December 24, 1955, John spent most
of his life in Southern California, returning to Pennsylvania in 2007. Before
moving to Pottsville in 2012, John participated in automotive sports,
enjoyed woodworking and was a talented ceramic artist. He was also a
skilled swimmer, once performing an ocean rescue at a Southern California
beach, and once rescuing the passengers of a submerged vehicle.

Mr. Brock is survived by his two sons, Alex and Tyler Brock and his ex-wife
Debbi Brock, all residing in Rialto, California, and his sister, Deborah
Shriver of Santa Maria, California. His longtime girlfriend, Sherry Green,
resides in Akron, Pennsylvania.

Private graveside services will be held in California. Memorial donations
may be made to Schuylkill County United Way (570-622-6421).
