Obituary

Jean E. Bazar, 92, Cressona, peacefully passed away at home.

Jean was born in Beckville July 24, 1921, and was the daughter of William and Elsie Beck Trometter. She lived in Cressona most of her life.

She was a graduate of Cressona High School and a 2-year Secretarial Course at Drexel Institute of Technology (now Drexel University), Philadelphia. She worked as Secretary to the Dean of the School of Education, University of PA and later at the law firm of Foulkrod, Sheppard, Porter, and Alexander. When she returned to Cressona she worked as a teller at the First National Bank of Cressona which later became the Pennsylvania National Bank (now M&T Bank). After her career she spent many years caring for 6 of her 8 grandchildren during their pre-school years and volunteering at Blue Mountain Elementary West and later at Blue Mountain Elementary Cressona library. She was a member of St. Ambrose Church and the Cressona Historical Society. She was an avid writer and a few of her short stories and several of her poems were published to her delight. Her hobbies included reading, crocheting, crossword puzzles, and caring for her flower garden.

Surviving are her husband, Andrew C., to whom she was married 69 years; one son, Andrew W. Bazar, Scottsville,NY; three daughters, Susan Kramer (wife of Karl Kramer) and Elizabeth (Betsy) Spotts (wife of Jay Spotts) of the Friedensburg area; and Pamela McCutcheon (wife of David McCutcheon), Orwigsburg. Also eight grandchildren, Christopher Kramer, Clarence, NY; Matthew Bazar, Conowingo, MD; Amy Kramer Anderson, W. Fargo, ND; Jill Bazar Kocher, Carlsbad, CA; Elorient McCutcheon Pelaez, McLean, VA; Jesse Spotts, Schuylkill Haven; Adrienne Spotts Sterner, Pine Grove; and Kaitlin McCutcheon, Roxbury Crossing, MA. And four great-grandchildren, Piper and Paisley Anderson, and Ethan and Eva Bazar. Family prefers donations to St. Ambrose R.C. Church, 201 Randel Street Schuylkill Haven.

Louis D. Truskowsky Funeral Home & Crematory, Inc. is in charge of arrangements. A private celebration of life memorial will be held at a later date at the convenience of all family members.
