Gerald W. Shappell Jr., affectionately known as Jerry, passed away at the age of 66 on January 11, 2025, at St. Lukes Hospital, surrounded by loved ones. Born on May 27, 1958, at the Pottsville Hospital, Jerry was a resident of Orwigsburg and worked as a roofer by trade.

Jerry was known for his infectious laughter that could light up an entire room. He had a passion for Harley Davidsons and was an avid fan of the Eagles football team.

He is preceded in death by his mother, Carrie F. Falls-Shappell, his father, Gerald W. Shappell Sr., and his grandmother, Olive M. Falls.

Jerry is survived by his two daughters, Jaymee Kruss, wife of William Kruss, of Pottsville, and Lucia Dela-Monica of Schuylkill Haven; his two granddaughters, Zavry J. Jones and Teagan B. Kruss, both of Pottsville; his two sisters, Marty G. Koch, wife of Robert Koch, of Schuylkill Haven, and Lori A. Meyer, wife of Steven Meyer, of St. Louis, Missouri; as well as many nieces, nephews, and cousins.
