Francis "Frank" A. Gatto, 73, Mahanoy City, PA, passed away Wednesday, May 13th, peacefully at his residence.
Frank was born in Philadelphia, PA on June 24, 1941, a son of the late Mary Alice (Mitchell) and Anthony Gatto.
He had graduated from John Bartram High School in Philadelphia.
He was a member of Blessed Teresa of Calcutta Parish Mahanoy City, PA 17948.
Frank served in the US Navy on a Landing Ship Tank during the Vietnam War.
He worked for the Pennsylvania Liquor control Board.
Frank was the "local weather man" for WNEP. Loved photography, the Phillies, Eagles, and Flyers. He was a member of the American Legion, Catholic War Vets, and the VFW in Philadelphia. Frank also served as past president of the PA L.S.T. Association (Landing Ship Tank).
He was the husband of Catherine (Donahue) Gatto and by Nephew Leo Davindish of Philadelphia, and Niece Barbara wife of Eric Burman of Santa Cruz Calif, and sister Diane Sabella of Philadelphia.
Frank and Catherine had celebrated 25 years of marriage.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at Blessed Teresa of Calcutta Parish, Mahanoy City, PA, at 10 AM on Monday, May 18th, with Rev. Kevin P. Gallagher officiating.
Friends may call Sunday from 4 to 8 PM and Monday 9AM at the Funeral Home.
Interment will be in St Canicus Cemetery Mahanoy City.
