Obituary

Frank W. Burda, 78, of Morea, passed away Monday at his residence.

Born in Morea, June 24, 1931, he was a son of the late Michael and Anielia Kraska Burda.

He was a member of St. Richard Church, Barnesville, and the former St. Casimir Church, Mahanoy City.

He served in the Army during the Korean War at Walter Reed Army Medical Center Washington D.C.

He worked as a mechanical foreman at PP&L.

He served as the secretary for the Knights of Columbus, past president of Holy Name Society of St. Casimir, vice president of the PP&L Retirees Club, was chairman of Mahanoy Township Democratic Committee, and had served as secretary of Mahanoy Township Water Authority. He was a major ticket seller for Marian Catholic High School football, basketball and other sporting events.

He was preceded in death by brothers, John, Charles and Edward; and sisters, Mary Lapinski, Stacia Colna and Anna Roman.

He was the husband of Cynthia Brylewski Burda. They celebrated their 50th wedding anniversary in August.

Surviving, in addition to his wife, are a daughter, Melissa Burda, Barnesville; sons, Michael Burda, husband of Gloria, Barnesville, Ed Burda, husband of Andrea, Selinsgrove, and Steve Burda, Kulpmont; a sister, Josephine "Juz" Stetts, Morea; a brother, Joseph, Seminole, Fla.; eight grandchildren; nieces and nephews.

Friends are invited to attend a Mass of Christian Burial at 10 a.m. Saturday at St. Richard Church, Barnesville, with the Rev. Joseph Whalen officiating. Friends may call from 6 to 9 p.m. Friday and from 9 a.m. Saturday at Louis D. Truskowsky Funeral Home Inc., Mahanoy City. Interment will be in Sky-View Memorial Park, Tamaqua, where a white dove will be released in his memory. The family prefers donations made to Marian High School or St. Richard Church.
