Francis "Murph" Schlack, 87, of 517 W. Mount Vernon St., Shenandoah, died Wednesday morning at Shenandoah Manor.
Born in Shenandoah, July 17, 1921, he was a son of the late Frank and Margaret Piotsky Schlack.
He lived in Shenandoah most of his life and attended Shenandoah schools. He was an Army veteran of World War II.
He retired from Purolator Products, Ringtown.
He
was a member of St. George Roman Catholic Church, Shenandoah, a life
member of VFW Post 7654, Ashland, and American Legion Post 792,
Shenandoah.
He was preceded in death by his two wives, Ann Burba
Schlack and Grace Merryfield DiCandia Schlack; two sisters, Dorothy
Snizavich and Alberta Sterbowicz.
Surviving are a son, Robert
Schlack and his wife, Liz, Shenandoah; a daughter, Christine Banonis
and her husband, Daniel, Shenandoah, and step daughter Cheryl Ventura and her husband Scott Pottsville; a brother, Joseph Schlack,
Eaglesville; grandchildren, Jason Banonis and Bobbi Marie Piekarski;
great-grandchildren, Andrew and Zachary Banonis and R.J. Piekarski;
stepgrandchildren, Scott and Jason Greiner; step-great-grandchildren;
nieces and nephews.
Funeral will be held at 10:30 a.m. Saturday
from Louis D. Truskowsky Funeral Home, 318 E. Centre St., Shenandoah.
Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 11 a.m. Saturday at
Annunciation Church, Shenandoah. Friends may call from 9 a.m. until the
time of services Saturday at the funeral home. Interment will be at
10:30 a.m. Monday in Indiantown Gap National Cemetery, Annville.
Memorial donations to the SPCA or the Shenandoah Public Library are
preferred.
