Eva Sherkness, 93, of 408 W. Centre St., Mahanoy City, died Sunday evening at Pottsville Hospital.
Born in Swoyersville, July 13, 1914, she was a daughter of the late Joseph and Anna Adamites Yakas. She lived in Mahanoy City since 1943.
Eva had worked at the "Duplan" silk mill, Kingstown, for several years.
She was a member of St. Joseph Roman Catholic Church, Mahanoy City.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Peter, in 1980; a daughter, Bernadine Shropp, in 1993.
Surviving are a daughter, Diane Sherkness, Washington, D.C.; two grandsons, Gene and Richard Slavinsky; a great-granddaughter.
Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 11 a.m. April 29 in St. Joseph Church. Friends may call from 10 a.m. April 29 until time of services at Louis D. Truskowsky Funeral Home Inc., Mahanoy City. Interment will be in Sky-View Memorial Park, Hometown, where a white dove will be released at the graveside in her memory.
