Elizabeth Ann Ryan, “Liz”, 85, of Mahanoy City, PA, passed away Thursday, September 24th, at Lehigh Valley East Norwegian, Pottsville.

Elizabeth was born in Mahanoy City, PA on January 16, 1941, a daughter of the late Ann (Leahy) and Philip Ryan.

She worked for many years at Eagle Brothers Shirt Factory in Mahanoy City until its closing. She also worked in the mail room at the State Correctional Institute Frackville until her retirement.

She was a lifelong member of her beloved St. Canicus Church and a founding member of the Historical Society of St. Canicus. She loved Notre Dame Football, dogs and all things Irish. She was a member of the Gold Team in the Mahanoy City Women’s Volleyball League. She enjoyed dancing, golf, swimming, and 50s music. She graduated from Mahanoy City High School in 1959.

Elizabeth is survived by her sister, Mame Pollack, of Mahanoy City, “her kids”: nieces and nephews: Jennifer and Shea Mealia, Bridget Pollack, Christopher and Lindsey Pollack, Jack and Heidi Pollack, Colleen Fowler and Andre Hinchman; Timothy and Karen Ryan, and Flip Ryan; grandnieces and grandnephews: Christopher, John, Jack, Andrew, Mia, Tessa, Kyle, Gwen, Cailyn, Patrick and Sammy; and many more loving nieces, nephew, grand nieces, grand nephews and dear friends. She was predeceased by her sister Lenore Ryan of Mahanoy City, and brothers James Ryan of Fairfax, Va and Phillip Ryan of Tamaqua.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 11 AM on Saturday, October 3rd at St. Clare of Assisi Parish in St Claire, with Monsignor William Glosser officiating.

Friends and family may call from 10:30 AM to 11 AM on Saturday, October 3rd at St. Clare of Assisi Parish in St. Claire.

Interment will follow at St. Canicus Cemetery Mahanoy City.
