Obituary
Eleanor Rita Levertavish (Gallagher), age 93, born in Mahanoy City, PA on March 2, 1922, died peacefully at home with her daughter, Rosemary, by her side.
Eleanor was the daughter of Rita and Tony Gallagher. Eleanor was wife of the late John "Levy" Levertavish, who passed in 1992.
She attended local schools and worked in the local garment industry.
Eleanor was a member of Blessed Teresa of Calcutta Parish in Mahanoy City and The Golden Age Mahanoy City and Senior Citizens and she loved Wheel of Fortune and playing bingo.
She was preceded in death by a son, Daniel, (2014), and a grand-daughter Genevieve (2009).
Eleanor had four children, John, Joseph, Daniel, and Rosemary.
She also raised three grandchildren, Keith, Genevieve, and Regina. All together, Eleanor had 8 grandchildren, 19 great-grandchildren and 5 great-great-grandchildren.
She is survived by her son, John of Hamburg, PA, his wife Barbara and two daughters, Angela and her daughter Olivia of Hamburg, Cheryl and her son, Chase, both of Allentown, PA.. Also surviving is a son, Joseph, of California with his wife, Julie. He has three children, Keith, of New York and his children Keith Jr., Savanna, and Monica. A daughter, Regina Schwalm with her husband, Ernie and their son, Zachary, all of Frackville, PA., and the late Genevieve. Her surviving daughter, Rosemary, has 3 sons; John and his companion Gina and four sons, Joshua, Cody all of Shamokin, PA, a son, Jonathon of Philadelphia, PA and his two children, Kaylie Rose and Cameron. Another son, Aaron and his companion, Ciera along with their son Evan, all of Mahanoy City, PA.. Randy with his companion, Donna of Mahanoy City, PA. and his four sons; Preston with his two children, Brooke and Karter, another son Derek, all of Mahanoy City, PA. and Jeremy and Kyle, both of Morea, PA. Another surviving son, James and his wife, Inez, and a son, Hunter, all of Pottsville, PA. A son, Jason of Pottsville and a daughter, Ashley and her husband Adam, also of Pottsville, PA.
A mass of Christian burial will be held at the Blessed Teresa of Calcutta, 600 West Mahanoy Ave., Mahanoy City, PA at 10 am with the Rev. Kevin P. Gallagher officiating.
Friends may call from 8:30 am until the time of service at the church. Interment will take place at St. Casimir Cemetery, Mahanoy City.
