Edward A. Fanelli, Manhattan resident over sixty years, World Traveler, philanthropist, and genuinely caring, loving person with true friends everywhere died on June 4, 2013 at the age of 89.
He was the son of the late John Fanelli and Natalie Clarke Fanelli of Shenandoah, PA.
A 1948 graduate of Villanova University, he interrupted studies in 1943 to join the Army Air Corp as an meteorologist after training at Brown and Harvard Universities. He joined USN reserves after Villanova University and served many years as an officer.
He was Asst. Treasurer at National Dairy Products (Kraft), and Asst. Secretary at GTE Corporation, and in retirement, a host on Crystal Cruise Lines until the age of 80.
Predeceased by his sister Marjorie Guinan and husband Lawrence, and brother Jack Fanelli.
He is survived by sister-in- law Mary Fanelli Shenandoah, PA, nephews Jack Guinan (Dr. Maryanne) Ardmore, PA, John Fanelli, III (Diane), Washington, WV, Mark Fanelli (Amy), Ashland, PA, nieces Mary Jude Zarkoski (David), Spring City, PA, Mimi Null (Kraig), Wynnewood,PA,14 great nieces/nephews and one great great nephew. He is also survived by his dear, close friends of many years, Michael Fanelli, Peter Tremblay, Jim Madden and his advocate/caregiver Ken Snyder, all of whom have lovingly stood watch and cared for him in VNNYC Haven Hospice during his final days of life.
Mass of Christian Burial at Our Mother of Good Counsel Parish, Bryn Mawr, PA, Friday, June 14 at 11AM, visiting 10-11AM in the Church, private burial later in Barnesville, PA.
Donations in Ed's memory to St. Thomas Monastery, Villanova University, Villanova PA. 19085 or to The John and Natalie Clarke Fanelli Scholarship which Ed established at Villanova University.
