Dorothy H. Shea, 93, a resident of Broad Mountain Nursing and
Rehabilitation Center, Frackville, formerly of Mahanoy City, passed
away Monday at Schuylkill Medical Center-East Norwegian Street.
Born in Shenandoah, Feb. 4, 1916, she was a daughter of the late Charles and Carrie Morgan Hilton.
She
was a 1933 graduate of J.W. Cooper High School, Shenandoah. She retired
from General Cigar, Mahanoy City, and then worked at F.W. Woolworth,
Shenandoah.
She was a member of Blessed Teresa of Calcutta Roman
Catholic Church, for merly St. Canicus Roman Catholic Church, Mahanoy
City, and the Senior Citizens in Mahanoy City and Frackville. She also
volunteered at the Nutrition Center, Mahanoy City.
She was preceded in death by her husband, James Shea, in 1966; and a sister, Mable Surfield.
Surviving
are daughters, Dorothy Ziegmont, Gilberton, and Maryanne Little,
Frackville; a son, James Shea, Lebanon; six grandchildren; six
great-grandchildren; a niece and four nephews.
A Mass of
Christian Burial will be celebrated at 10:30 a.m. Saturday at Blessed
Teresa of Calcutta Church. Friends may call from 9:30 a.m. Saturday at
Louis D. Truskowsky Funeral Home Inc., Mahanoy City. Interment will be
in St. Canicus Cemetery, where a white dove will be released in her
memory. The family prefers donations be made to the
American Diabetes Association
. Donations will be accepted at the funeral home.
