Carra L. Hornberger, 42, of 200 E. Mahanoy Ave., Mahanoy City, died Friday morning at Good Samaritan Regional Medical Center.
Born in Mahanoy City, Sept. 22, 1965, she was the daughter of Dr. Albert H. Hornberger and his wife, Kay, whom Carra referred to as "Mom," and the late Marjorie A. Fliehler Hornberger. She lived in Mahanoy City all her life.
She was a 1983 graduate of Mahanoy Area High School and completed a course in computer technology at the Schuylkill Training and Technology Center.
She had been employed by Acme, Bi-Lo and P&R grocery stores. She was a member of St. Catherine Medical Center Auxiliary and had been a volunteer in the hospital gift shop.
She was a member of the Christ Lutheran Church, Mahanoy City. Carra was a "Trekkie," having lived in the "Star Trek Universe" for many years.
Surviving are her brothers, Mark Hornberger and his wife, Carol, and their two sons, Matthew and Robert, all of Shillington; aunts and uncles.
Funeral services will be held Tuesday at 10:30 a.m. at Louis D. Truskowsky Funeral Home followed by a Rite of Christian Burial at 11 a.m. at Christ Lutheran Church.
Friends may call Monday from 6 to 8 p.m. at the funeral home. Interment will be in German Protestant Cemetery, where a white dove will be released at the grave side in her memory.
Her family prefers donations be made to Christ Lutheran Church.
