Bernadine "Bernie" T. Mahalage, passed away on March 27 at the age of 96. Born Oct 20, 1927 in Mahanoy City, a graduate of Mahanoy City HS, Bernie raised her family there and was a proud resident of the town.

She was an excellent cook and took pride in her cooking and delivered countless meals to family and friends. She was generous with her time and resources for those in need.

She was preceded in death by her husband, John 'Doc' Mahalage and son, John 'Pete' Mahalage, Jr., brothers, Joseph, Edward and Francis Maceiunas, sisters Mary Maceiunas and Leona Schappel.

Bernie is survived by daughter Paula Mahalage Hopkins, 2 granddaughters Nichole Mahalage, Devon and her husband David Parker, and great grandchildren Gavin and Vivian Parker.
