Barry W. Brassington, 64, of Barnesville, Pa passed away Thursday, October 30th,
peacefully, at his residence surrounded by his loving family.
Barry was born in Jacksons Patch on May 20, 1950, a son of the late Mary (Hillabush)and William Brassington.
He was a member of St Richards Church, Barnesville PA. Barry graduated from Marian High School in 1967. Upon graduation he worked for General Cigar in Mahanoy City.
Barry served in the US Army as a Military Policeman having been stationed in Germany from 1971-1973 during the Vietnam War
He worked as a Serviceman for PPL for 37 years until his retirement in 2009. During his retirement Barry enjoyed traveling, camping, yard sailing and spending time with his family and pets and just enjoying life.
Barry was a well known member of his Community and was always willing to volunteer whenever he was needed. Barry will always be remembered for his Hearty laugh, great sense of humor and exceptional kindness to all who knew him.
He was a proud member of the West end Fire and Rescue, Mahanoy City TPA, Coach for the Lions Club Little League Team and was inducted into the Mahanoy City Little League Hall of Fame, He was a coach for the Mahanoy City CYO Basketball team and served on the board for the Mahanoy City Sewer Authority.
Barry was the owner of Brassington & Sons Excavating CO.
Barry was the husband of Mary (Andrews) Brassington with whom he would have celebrated his 33rd wedding anniversary on November 21.
Barry is survived by two sons Barry Brassington and his fiance Vicki of Gilberton Eric, husband of Kristen Brassington of Mahanoy City, and also a sister Christine, wife of Robert Dasey of Brocton and three grandchildren Jacob, Kylie,and Brooke Brassington. He is preceded in death by a grandaughter Abbygail Sarah Brassington
A Mass of the Christian Burial will be Celebrated at at 11am at St Richards Church, Barnesville on Thursday , November 6 with Father Joseph Whalen and Monsignor William Glosser Officiating.
Friends may call Wednesday November 5, 6 to 9 PM and Thursday 10am. at the Louis D. Truskowsky Funeral Home & Crematory Inc. Mahanoy City.
Interment will be in St. Canicus Cemetery Mahanoy City, PA.
