Barbara Dee Smulligan, 79, of Mahanoy City, PA, passed away Saturday, August 8th, at Lehigh Valley Cedar Crest, Allentown.

Barbara was born in Mahanoy City, PA on October 3, 1940, a daughter of the late Julia (Lahauchuck) and Samuel Schappell.

She graduated from Mahanoy City High School.

Barbara was a member of St. Mary's Byzantine Catholic Church Mahanoy City.

She had worked for the former General Cigar, Mahanoy City PA.,

Barbara was the wife of Paul Smulligan for 60 years.

Barbara is survived by a daughter, Julia Lee, wife of  Jerome Petritsch, of Alabama; also survived by a brother, Robert, husband of Beverly (Bierman) Schappell, of Cincinnati Ohio, and by 2 Grandchildren Jacob Petritsch of Alabama and Jennifer Petritsch of Idaho, also by numerous nieces and nephews.

Office of Christian Burial and Divine Liturgy will be private due to COVID-19 restrictions at St. Mary's Byzantine Catholic Church, Mahanoy City, with Rev. James Carroll officiating. Burial will follow at Skyview Memorial Park Tamaqua, PA.
