Alphonsus Marsincavage, 83, of 517 W. Market St., Mahanoy City, died Friday at Saint Catherine Medical Center Fountain Springs.
Born in Mahanoy City, Feb. 6, 1926, he was a son of the late Alphonsus and Josephine Barney Marsincavage.
He attended St. Mary Slovak Catholic School for eight years and Mahanoy City High School class of 1944.
He served in the Army during World War II.
He
lived in Mahanoy City most of his life and worked in the local
collieries. From 1960 to 1973, Al worked as an assembler mechanic for
Tenney Engineering, Union, N.J. From 1973 to 1989, he worked for Sealey
Spring, Delano, from which he retired.
He was a member of Blessed Teresa of Calcutta Roman Catholic Church, Mahanoy City.
He
was a member of American Legion Post 74, Mahanoy City; Mahanoy Area
Senior Citizens, West End Fire and Rescue companies, Mahanoy City.
Surviving
are a sister, Yvonne O'Connell, Lancaster; nieces, Debby Ewing,
Absecon, N.J., Tracy Cable, Pottstown, and Tina LaBeaume, Basking
Ridge, N.J.
Funeral services will be held at 10 a.m. Tuesday at
Louis D. Truskowsky Funeral Home, Mahanoy City. Mass of Christian
Burial will be at 10:30 a.m. in Blessed Teresa of Calcutta Parish.
Friends may call from 9:30 a.m. until the time of services Tuesday at
the funeral home. Interment will be in Sky-View Memorial Park,
Hometown, where a white dove will be released in his memory.
