Obituary

Aldona M. Marchalonis formerly of 21 East Pine Street, entered into her eternal rest on December 7, 2008. A lifelong native of Mahanoy City , Pa. , she stood side by side with her beloved husband in their grocery/butcher shop on East Pine Street . Her husband, Joseph, preceded her in death in 1996.

They were married for fifty-nine years.

Aldona had a lovely alto voice and
sang for countless years in the former St. Joseph 's Choir, where she and her husband met.

She was well known for her delicious peanut butter and chocolate fudge, which she generously shared.

Since her husband's demise she resided with her loving daughter Marie and son in law Jim Orlowe in Stratford , Connecticut .

She enjoyed attending the varied social functions at Oronoque Village . She was always "front row"

and especially enjoyed singing along with Village Voices performances.

She was everyone's "MOM".

Aldona was preceded in death by two brothers, John Bonis and Al Yacabonis and two sisters, Connie Izdanawicz and Alberta Scotti.. Surviving her are

her two daughters, Marie Orlowe of Stratford , CT , and Joanne Tacelosky of Quarryville Pa. three grandchildren, Michael Tacelosky (Robin) of Elkton , Maryland , Ellen Halverson (Jono) of Swansboro , N.C. and Mark Tacelosky (Kristin) of Chester Springs, PA., along with three cherished great grandchildren, Ryan and Evan Halverson and Ella Tacelosky.

Thank you to the staff at Lord Chamberlain Nursing and Rehabilitation Center and a very special thank you to the entire staff on the fourth floor for their compassion and their excellent tender loving care.

A Mass of Christian burial will be held at Blessed Teresa of Calcutta Parish Mahanoy City at 10 AM on Wednesday. Friends may call at the funeral home from 8Am until 9:30 AM. Interment will be in the St. Joseph Cemetery Mahanoy City where a White Dove will be released at the grave side in her memory.

Donations in her memory to St. Vincent de Paul Society of Blessed Teresa of Calcutta Church, Mahanoy City Pa. or St Joseph School for the Blind, 761 Summit Ave, Jersey City NJ 07307.
